The landscape blurring
past my face
took years to develop
eons to form
It took a billion years to start
And a billion more to stop the flow
of volcanoes and lava and heat and rock
And settle into trees and land
It took centuries to be discovered
and decades more to be appreciated
It waited and waited to hold the houses
It waited and waited to nurture the trees
It waited forever to see the people
to hold the gardens
and house the hilltops
and weather the storms
And now it has gotten what it waited for so long
It holds the houses
and nurtures the trees
It sees the people
And it cares for the gardens
It's housed the hilltops
and weathered the storms
It's withstood eons and eons of time
And it holds the history for ever
But now we don't care
Because we can't see the time
It took to develop
It took to become
And so now we pass it
Without even caring
Without hearing the song that it sings
Because to us, it is just scenery
